First JUCCCE China Energy Forum

On November 10, 2008, the first official JUCCCE China Energy Forum was opened in Beijing. Three hundred delegates from around the world in sectors ranging from government to industry to NGOs gathered together to discuss the theme of the forum: Partnering on Solutions in Beijing China.

Peggy Liu called on participating executives and leaders, people who impact the world with their every decision, to work together to provide more turnkey environmental solutions for China. In response to its own call, this forum served as a starting platform for collaboration between representatives from the US Department of Energy, the US Presidents Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Energy Bureau and NDRC Investment Association Committee.

The JUCCCE team, along with partners Augmentum and McKinsey, unveiled its "China Energy Blueprint": a framework mapping out transformation in energy use with global, multi-sector cooperation. On the second day of the JUCCCE Forum, Director Wang Zhongping of the Mayoral Training Center in Beijing, signed a commitment to work with mayors to implement city-level energy efficiency programs.
